Main Corner Complex Venue

The Main Corner complex encompasses several venues that are available to be booked by the community and organisations, for exhibitions, seminars, performances, meetings, conferences, in fact all types of events.

Foyer (capacity 100 standing)

Your first impression of the Main Corner features atrium glass walls and textured stone floors. This gem in the heart of the city is perfect for cocktail parties, meet & greets, conference registrations etc, and can easily fit 100 people standing.

Balcony (capacity 75 standing)

The Balcony offers spectacular views across the City. This is the perfect spot for functions, exhibitions and displays, with direct access to the King's Floor and Dress Circle.

Dress Circle (capacity 108 seated)

Featuring state of the art projection and surround sound, the Dress Circle is perfect for movies, presentations and performances, and seats 108 people. A BluRay player is available for use on the projector, and a lectern is available on request.

King's Floor (capacity 200 standing)

The King's Floor features the original Oregon beams which remain visible in the gantries and walkways of what used to be the backstage area of the King's Theatre, with pulleys and curtain rails still in place. This large room is perfect for functions and has direct access to the Institute's meeting rooms. The multi-touch tables may add some local discovery into your conference or event or may be removed to create a larger useable space. Part of the Institute Building, these rooms are perfect for meetings or breakout rooms for your conference, and have easy access to a kitchenette, toilets, the Dress Circle and King's Floor.

City Hall

The City Hall was redeveloped in 2004 and won a heritage commendation from the Australian Institute of Architects and two Edmund Wright Heritage awards.

Overlooking the lush Cave Garden, City Hall can be hired as either a reception area, or the entire hall. There is the option of using a commercial caterer, or using the community kitchen for your own catering, which includes an urn, microwave, oven/cooktop, fridge/freezer, pie warmer, dishwasher and glass washer.

Hall: 180 (seated in dinner style) 200 (theatre style)

The hall includes data projection, sound facilities, small staging and a lectern.
